If this room gives you something worth carrying into the night, you can help keep Boho After Dark open, independent, and creating new conversations.

Stay awhile

For the beautifully curious.

I wanted a place where a question can stay open long enough for us to think about it together. Some nights I will bring one to the table. Other nights I hope you will. If a thought or a poem has been following you around, there is a chair here for it. Choose the name you want us to call you.

Imagine the hour when the music gets quieter and somebody at the next table says something you keep thinking about on the way home. That is the feeling I want in this room. We can disagree and still be curious about each other. And yes, a good line deserves a snap.

Your first thought belongs here

Take the Mic.

You can start the conversation. Share an original thought, a question, a reflection, or a poem. Your piece goes to Susie for review before it appears in the salon.

Tonight’s Conversation
01

What do we owe the person we are becoming?

I caught myself saying, “I’ll deal with that later,” and wondered who I thought would be there when later arrived. It will still be me, carrying whatever I leave on the table today.

I keep thinking about the promises we pass along to our future selves. Which ones would make tomorrow feel a little kinder to live in?

Your turn: What is one thing you would like the person you are becoming to inherit from you?

Table Talk

The conversation continues beneath each article. Tell me where your thoughts went, or pull up beside another Beatnik and see where their question leads.

Snaps

A snap means: I felt that. Give one freely when someone says the thing you could not quite put into words.

From the Back Booth

Start your own thought, question, or poem. Once approved, it can open a new conversation with your chosen public name.

Become a Beatnik

Choose your name for the room.

Use the name you answer to, or give yourself a pen name for the room. I like the idea that someone might be quietly writing the most interesting thoughts from the corner booth.

  1. Open an account.
Use your real email privately so you can sign in securely.
  2. Choose your room name.
This is the name fellow Beatniks will see in the conversation.
  3. Join with curiosity.
Read deeply, start a conversation, disagree kindly, and leave the room more interesting than you found it.

Wear your questionable certainty.

The first Boho After Dark tee is taking shape: black, soft, a little dramatic, and glowing pink like the sign outside.
